Petra Lovrenčić - Co-Founder & CEO
Petra Lovrenčić is a Croatian-Australian producer. Her mission as a filmmaker is to tell stories from underrepresented individuals and communities, via inclusive practice and narrative comedy.
Petra is the 2018 recipient of the Village Roadshow Entertainment Group and Animal Logic Entertainment Internship. The coveted program, run by Australians in Film, included working at Village Roadshow Pictures’ and Animal Logic Entertainment’s offices in Los Angeles, with a focus in garnering hands-on experience in developing, acquiring, packaging, and producing feature films. This internship developed into a four year career in visual effects and animation production.
Petra has received funding from Screen Australia and ABC’s Fresh Blood Initiative, an initiative that promotes emerging comedy filmmakers. She produced and co-directed a three part series called 'Too Pretty to be Witty', which broadcasted on Australian national television, and appeared on ABC’s streaming service ABC iView.
Petra has also received funding from Create NSW and ABC as part of the Digital First Comedy Initiative, an initiative that promotes culturally diverse storytelling. She produced 'Halal Gurls', a 6x8 min online comedy series. The series received 14 nominations, and earned Petra an AACTA Award nomination and a Screen Producers Australia Award nomination. ‘Halal Gurls’ won the Prix du Public at Marseille Web Fest in 2020. The series streamed on ABC iView.
Petra and the team behind ‘Fanny Scat Investigates’ received funding from the Queer Screen Completion Fund. The fund was announced at the 2023 Mardi Gras Film Festival Program Launch. The pilot episode of 'Fanny Scat Investigates' premiered at the 2023 Mardi Gras Film Festival in Sydney, Australia. -
Jeneffa Soldatić - Co-Founder & CEO
Jeneffa Soldatić is an Australian-Istro-Romanian multi award-winning director. Jeneffa’s work is shaped by her lived experience of being the child of Croatian immigrants. Growing up in the suburbs of Australia as one of the only kids in her town from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, Jeneffa became a storyteller to be included and to provide inclusivity.
Since 1997, Jeneffa has travelled and worked extensively around the world, particularly in NYC and LA. She continues to hone and refine her skills, accumulating a body of work as an award-winning theatre and film director, writer, acting coach, and university teacher. Her films have been shown at major festivals, winning many awards worldwide.
Jeneffa has directed several multi award-winning short films, including the Academy Award qualifying ‘The Honey Makers’ (EP Alison Owen), ‘Azzurro’ (filmed in Puglia, Italy), ‘… is the thing with feathers’ (Berlin Film Society Berlin Film Festival), ‘Ordinary’, and ‘Super 80’ (which premiered Cinequest).
Jeneffa has worked for major theatre companies in both the USA and Australia. ‘Fade’ (National Theatre of Parramatta), ‘Speaking in Tongues’ (Australian Theatre Company) which earned Jeneffa an award for Best Director at Stage Scene LA, ‘The Yam Corsage’ (Sydney Festival), ‘The Incredible Here and Now’ (National Theatre Parramatta), ‘The Normal Heart’ (Eternity Theatre), and the NYC webseries ‘Then That Happened’ (LA WebFest).
Jeneffa is the on-set acting coach and director on Nickelodeon and Tyler Perry’s television series ‘Young Dylan’.
Jeneffa’s career highlights include touring with David Bowie singing with The Polyphonic Spree, and co-writing and directing the National Theatre of Parramatta’s ‘The Yam Corsage’ for the 2021 Sydney Festival.
Jeneffa holds an MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School, and is a proud life member of the Actors Studio. She is also the recipient of The Croatian Studies Foundation Grant.
